Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Request stuck at 'In Progress' if not approved within 7 days
  • The deployment does not progress and vm's are not deployed
  • Requests will remain in-progress indefinately and do not fail

Environment

VMware vRealize Automation 7.x

Cause

The issue occurs if the deployment is gone for an approval and not approved within 7 days.Tokens are removed after 7 days or when the operation needing them is completed, whichever comes first.

Resolution

To resolve this issue manually delete the in-progress task from the vRA to clean up the IN PROGRESS requests

Refer the following article to remove any in progress  requests,  Requests get stuck at 'In Progress' or 'Pending Approval' status in vRA

Note: Take snapshot of the vRA appliance node before making changes to vpostgres db

Workaround:
Before performing any changes best practise dictates you first back up the vRA appliance.

To extend the validity of the token used to invoke a request after approval you can add the line "persistentTokenManager.staleTokenAgeDays=14" to the file /etc/vcac/vcac.properties file.

Note:
- The vcac-server service needs to get restarted in order for the setting to be applied
- Any requests created before the restart will still have the default validity (7 days

Additional Information

Impact/Risks:
The deployment will get stuck and will be in "in progress" state.
