Upgrading from VMware Identity Manager 2.7.1 to VMware Identity Manager 3.0 (2151825)

When you upgrade directly from VMware Identity Manager to VMware Identity Manager 3.0, the upgrade will fail. To upgrade to 3.0, you must first upgrade to VMware Identity Manager 2.9.2.x.


As the root user, run the following commands on each node to upgrade to 2.9.2.x

Note: Before you begin the upgrade, take a snapshot of you 2.7.1 virtual appliance as a back up.

  1. Enter /usr/local/horizon/update/configureupdate.hzn provider --url 
    Note: If you upgrade to a later version than, change the .0  in the command to the version point number (for example
  2. Enter /usr/local/horizon/updatemgr.hzn updateinstaller/usr/local/horizon/updatemgr.hzn update

Take a snapshot of the 2.9.2.x upgraded virtual appliance.
