Unable to Power on the Virtual Machine after upgrading to VMware Fusion 10 (2151791)

  • 2 Ratings

  • Trying to power on the Virtual Machine in VMware Fusion 10, you receive an error:

Translated from German: In VMware Fusion an error has occurred and the virtual machine has been down.

  • Observed on Non English Mac host system only.
  • Observed after upgrading to VMware Fusion 10 or VMware Fusion 10 Pro.

VMware is aware of the issue and working on a fix.

To workaround to the issue, manually edit the virtual machine's configuration file (the .vmx file):

1. Locate the Virtual Machine's files. 2. Open the virtual machine's configuration file (.vmx) using a text editor. 3. Place the cursor at the end of the file and add the below line

        mks.enableMTLRenderer = "0"

4. Save and Close the .vmx file.

5. Launch Fusion and Power on the virtual machine.

The solution suggested is to enable OpenGL which allow the user to power on the virtual machine
