Virtual machines are stuck at 0% or 35% when powering on (2150904)

Symptoms

  • While powering on virtual machine, the pre-check job is stuck at 0% or 35%.

  • You do not see any events in the GUI.

  • In the vpxd.log file, you see entries similar to:

    info vpxd[05780] [Originator@6876 sub=VmProv opID=PowerOnVmResultFormMediator-applyOnMultiEntity-6681-ngc-b4-01-01-01] Execute local action vpx.vmprov.InvokePrechecks (5%)

Cause

This issue occurs in the environments installed with NSX for vSphere when Guest Introspection virtual machines are powered off or when NSX Guest Introspection USVM fails on a host.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, ensure all the NSX Guest Introspection SVM's are powered on.
