"ACPI Warning: 32/64X length mismatch...." in ESXi VMkernel log (2150410)

  • 0 Ratings

In the /var/log/vmkernel.log file, you see an entry similar to:

ACPI Warning: 32/64X length mismatch in Gpe0Block: 256/0 (20120215/tbfadt-650)

The issue occurs when certain ACPI fields are 256 bits or longer. It reflects a limitation in the ACPI specification, but is harmless.

Certain ACPI fields have two versions, one with a 32-bit address and an 8-bit length measured in bytes, the second with a 64-bit address and an 8-bit length measured in bits.  A field that requires a 64-bit address and is 256 bits in length or longer cannot be completely represented by either version.  In such cases the industry convention is to use the address from the 64-bit version combined with the length from the 32-bit version.  ESXi implements this convention correctly, but issues a warning message.

This is expected behavior and the warning message can be safely ignored.
