Two writable volumes are created for a user (2150335)

  • 0 Ratings

Symptoms

  • Writable Volume was created for a specific AD group without checking the option Delay writable creation for group/OU members until they login.
  • All users in the group have a standard named writable volume like below:

    MYDOMAIN!5C!USER1.vmdk

  • Some users in the group have another writable volume which has operating system name:

    MYDOMAIN!5C!USER2!20!on!20!W7x86.vmdk

  • The users who have two writable volumes were added to the group recently.

Cause

This issue occurs if the option Delay writable creation for group/OU members until they login is not selected when creating the group's writable volume.

The OS specified writable volume is created when the user logs into App Volumes Agent machine before the standard named writable volume is created.

After that, the standard named writable volume will be created for the user by internal scheduled job.

Resolution

Currently there is no resolution.

To workaround to the issue, recreate the group writable volume with checking the option Delay writable creation for group/OU members until they login.

This option prevents the standard named writable volume from being created by internal scheduled job.
Only a OS specified writable volumes is created for each users in the group.
