Cannot unmount temporary datastore used for vSAN traces from vSAN cluster ESXi hosts (2150328)

  • 0 Ratings

Symptoms

  • Cannot unmount temporary datastore used for vSAN traces from vSAN cluster ESXi hosts
  • Running the esxcli vsan trace set -p <datastore_name> command does not move the vSAN traces output.

Resolution

The datastore will not unmount or allow deletion as the vsantraces-catalog is pointed to it.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Disable vsantraced startup by running this command:

    chkconfig vsantraced off

  2. Stop the vsantraced service by running this command:

    /etc/init.d/vsantraced stop

  3. Change the syslog to point to the vSAN datastore .
  4. Delete any coredump files that are present after checking that they are not required.. For more information, see Removing the ESXi coredump to file (2090057).
  5. Reboot the ESXi host.
  6. Unmount the datastore.
