Uploading OVA fails in VMware vCloud Director 5.5.x with the error: "cURL error: SSL Connect Error" (2150279)

Symptoms

  • vCD OVA deployment fails with this error:

     cURL error: SSL Connect Error
  • vCloud Director 5.5.6 fails when uploading local ova file.
  • Unable to upload locally attached OVA file.
  • OVA deployment fails with this error:

    Error Message "cURL error: SSL Connect Error"

  • In the C:\Users\loginUser\AppData\Local\Temp\ vmrc-plugin\plugin-pluginPid.log file, you see entries similar to:

    ProxySettings not detected, Not enabling OvfToolAutoDetectProxy option
    Proxy not detected on Windows using FB
    No proxy set on browser
    ProxySettings not detected, Not enabling OVFToolAutoDetectProxy option

Resolution

To resolve this issue, use one of these options:
 
  • Delete the csp_ovftool_settings.js file.

    1. Delete the csp_ovftool_settings.js file from C:\Users\current_user\..
      Where, current_user is the name of the currently logged in user.
    2. Refresh the website.
    3. Upload the ISO vCloud.
      A new file is automatically created.

  • Disable the proxy information in Internet Explorer browser.
    1. Navigate to Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings.
      • Uncheck Automatically detect settings.
      • Uncheck Use automatic configuration script.
      • Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN.
    2. Click OK to save the changes.
