Host prep showing “Not ready” in NSX after upgrading from vCNS (2149821)

  • 0 Ratings

  • Host prep fails
  • Host prep page displays an error similar to:

error: Upgrade of deployment unit failed, please check if ovf/vib urls are accessible, in correct format and all the properties in ovf environment have been configured in service attributes. Please check logs for details. Agent is not deployed due to incompatible host.
  • NSX logs contains entries that indicates connection issues between NSX and VC similar to:

    org.springframework.integration.MessageHandlingException: com.vmware.vim.binding.eam.fault.NoConnectionToVCenter:
    inherited from com.vmware.vim.binding.eam.fault.EamRuntimeFault:
    inherited from com.vmware.vim.binding.eam.fault.NoConnectionToVCenter

Note: The preceding log excerpts are only examples. Date, time, and environmental variables may vary depending on your environment.

This issue occurs due to NSX to vCenter Server connectivity issues causing split task to fail.

To resolve this issue:

Invoke REST API to upgrade VXLAN service instead of UI (The Not Ready message overrides the Upgrade available message). It is necessary to invoke because the Agencies will have an alarm.

curl -i -k -u admin -H 'Content-Type: application/xml' -X PUT https://<NSXMGR_IP>/api/2.0/nwfabric/configure -d '<nwFabricFeatureConfig><featureId>com.vmware.vshield.vsm.vxlan</featureId><resourceConfig><resourceId>domain-cXX</resourceId></resourceConfig></nwFabricFeatureConfig>'

: Replace NSXMGR_IP & domain-cXX.
EAM scans the host and turn green.

: Do not alter the si_versioned_deploy_spec table using sql queries.
For more information, see the NSX for vSphere 6.3 API Guide.
