Session Data is missing in vRealize Operations for Horizon (2149589)

  • 0 Ratings

Symptoms

  • VMware Horizon is running in a Cloud Pod Architecture environment.
  • No recent session data is available in vRealize Operations Manager.
  • In the %path%\ProgramData\VMware\vRealize Operations for Horizon\Broker Agent\logs\v4v_brokeragent_svc_date.log file, you see entries similar to

ERROR   Exception adding sessions into the vdiTopology. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    at com.vmware.vrops.view.broker.topology.TopologyManager.GetPodId(IVDITopology vdiTopology)
    at com.vmware.vrops.view.broker.topology.TopologyManager.addViewVDIGlobalSessionsToTopology(IVDITopology vdiTopology)

Cause

The GetPodId task throws an exception if the Pod name has changed in the Horizon Administrator portal. This exception impacts the collection of both global and local sessions.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, use any one of the options:

Option 1
  1. Change the Pod name back to the default name.
  2. Log in to the View Administrator portal as an Administrator user.
  3. Navigate to Inventory > View Configuration > Sites.
  4. Select the Pod and click Edit
  5. Change the name to the default and click OK.

Note: The default pod name is based on the host name of the View Connection Server instance.

For example:  If the host name is CS1, the pod name is Cluster-CS1. The default site name is Default First Site.

Option 2

Unjoin the pod from the Cloud Pod Architecture environment. For more information, see Removing a Pod From a Pod Federation.

Option 3

Apply the vRealize Operations for Horizon broker agent 6.4 Hot Fix.

To apply the hotfix, file a support request with VMware Support and note this KB article ID (2149589) in the problem description. For more information, see Filing a Support Request in My VMware (2006985).
