Agent machine gets STOP error or stops responding when you open a local file shared with CDR (2149417)

In certain circumstances, opening a local file with File > Open in a remote desktop or remote application causes the guest operating system on the Horizon Agent machine to encounter a STOP error (blue screen) or to stop responding (hang) when client drive redirection (CDR) is used.

For example, if you use client drive redirection to share a local folder with a Windows 10 remote desktop, launch Notepad in the remote desktop, and then use File > Open to open a file in the local folder, a STOP error occurs in the Windows 10 remote desktop.

This issue occurs in the following Horizon Clients:
  • Horizon Client for Mac
  • Horizon Client for Windows
  • Horizon Client for Linux
  • Horizon Client for Android

The following Horizon Agent guest operating systems are affected:

  • Windows 10
  • Windows Server 2016

Solution

This is a third-party issue. To resolve the problem, install the following patch in the guest operating system:
