  • 0 Ratings

Purpose

This article provides information about upgrading the VMware Identity Manager Connector 2016.11.1 to the latest.
The current GA is 2017.1.1 (February 2017)

Note: If you are upgrading from any other version of the connector to the current GA'd version, follow the upgrade guide instructions for the connector.  The following steps are not required.

To confirm that you have a problem, run the /usr/local/horizon/bin/curl command as the root user. If it gives an error saying "curl:error while loading shared libraries:libcares.so.2 cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory", you must complete these steps before upgrading to the latest connector.

Resolution

Download the zip at the bottom of the KB. The zip filecontains the libcares.so.2.1.0 file. Save the zipped file to your computer. Right-click the zipped folder and extract the file. Save it to a location that can be reached.

Steps required before you upgrade.
  1. As the sshuser, scp the libcares.so.2 to /home/sshuser.
  2. Copy the libcares.so.2 to /usr/local/horizon/lib.
  3. Edit the /etc/Id.so.conf file and add as the last entry, /usr/local/horizon/lib.
  4. As root, run only Idconfig from the command line.
  5. Run /usr/local/horizon/bin/curl and ensure that you do not get any library errors. You should see the standard curl output which is similar to   curl:try 'curl --help' or 'curl --manual' for more information.

Perform the upgrade and then run the following as root.

  1. Re-edit the /etc/Id.so.conf file to remove the entry /user/local/horizon/lib
  2. As root, run Idconfig.
  3. Run /usr/local/horizon/bin/curl and ensure that you do not get any library errors. You should see the standard curl output which is similar to   curl:try 'curl --help' or 'curl --manual' for more information.
