Topology refresh failure in vRealize Operations for Horizon/Published Apps (2149138)

Symptoms

  • vRealize Operations for Horizon/Published Apps data is not displayed in new installation..
  • No topology data is sent to the adapter.
  • In the broker agent log file, you see entries similar to:

    ****** ERROR   Error happened in collecting topology. Value cannot be null.
    Parameter name: Waithandle array may not be empty.
       at System.Threading.WaitHandle.WaitAll(WaitHandle[] waitHandles, Int32 millisecondsTimeout, Boolean exitContext)
       at com.vmware.vrops.v4common.baseservices.appvolext.topology.AppVolStackCache.Refresh(Dictionary`2 stacks)
       at com.vmware.vrops.v4common.baseservices.appvolext.AppVolumeBroker.collectAppVolStacks(IVDITopology topology, List`1 mgrs)
       at com.vmware.vrops.v4common.baseservices.appvolext.AppVolumeBroker.AddAppVolumeObjects(IVDITopology topology)
       at com.vmware.vrops.view.broker.topology.TopologyManager.FetchTopologyFromServer(String& strContext)
       at com.vmware.vrops.view.broker.topology.TopologyManager.RefreshFullTopology(String& strContext)
    ****** WARNING TaskTopologyRefresh : no Topology returned by RefreshFullTopology

Cause

This issue occurs because the broker agent throws an exception if the connection to App Volumes environment is broken. This exception impacts the collection of the full topology.

Resolution

To resolve this, use one of these options:
  • Fix the App Volumes connection issue.

    Note: This issue does not occur if the connection between the broker agent and App Volumes is corrected.

  • Deselect Enable App Volumes Monitoring when configuring App Volumes in the broker agent configuration. 
  • Contact VMware Support for the Hotfix releases.

    Note: Restart the broker agent after applying the resolution.
