Printer Redirection Fails when using Horizon Client For Linux (2149072)

  • Intermittently Printer Redirection Fails when end users try connecting from Linux Horizon Client version 4.0.1 or later
  • ThinPrint Client (thnuclnt) is not started but the connector file (svc) exists
  • ThinPrint Client for Linux  does not start & you see below error in the logs :

    VMware, ThinPrint Client Linux Version, (c) 2007-2015 ThinPrint GmbH
    2017-01-31 19:13:33 2196 adaptor daemon booted
    2017-01-31 19:13:33 2199 connector "svc" booted
    2017-01-31 19:13:33 2199 socket creation of connector "svc" failed with 98, delaying


This issue may occur if SVC connector was not removed properly from previous session.


To resolve this issue, remove the connector (vc or svc) file manually after killing thnuclnt process:

  1. Find out if the thnuclnt process is still running by command:

     ps -ef | grep thnu

  2. Terminate the process if it is running using below commands

    Linux - ‘kill `cat ~/.thnuclnt/`’

  3. Remove the file using below commands :

    rm ~/.thnuclnt/svc

Horizon Client for Linux. Connector definition with the path /Users/<user name>/Library/Caches/vmware-view-thinprint/.thnuclnt-Vo0t2/svc that refers in the thnuclnt.conf-file is used in Mac Clients.

Linux Client uses the path /home/<username>/.thnuclnt/svc.When user launches the view client for the first time /home/<username>/.thnuclnt is dynamically created with the following files,
