Importing IaaS certificate fails with the error: "Certificate with <THUMBPRINT> not found in store" (2145493)

  • Importing IaaS certificates into vRealize Automation 7.x fails. 
  • In the vRealize Automation Appliance management web page, you see the error:  

    Certificate with <THUMBPRINT> not found in store.

  • The certificate is not updated in IaaS and the trust is not properly established.


This issue occurs when an unnecessary validation is performed during the certificate change procedure.


This issue is resolved in vRealize Automation 7.1, available at VMware Downloads.
To work around this issue if you do not want to upgrade:
  1. Import the new certificate in to the Local Computer > Trusted People store on the IaaS servers.

    To import the new certificate:

    1. Log in to IaaS server and Open Microsoft Management Console by running the mmc.exe command.
    2. Press Ctrl + M to Add a new snap-in in the console or select the option from the File menu.
    3. Select Certificates and click Add
    4. Select Computer account and click Next.
    5. Select Local computer: (the computer this console is running on) and click Finish.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Expand Certificates (Local Computer) on the left pane of the console.
    8. Right-click the Trusted People and click All Tasks > Import.
    9. Select Local Machine radio button and click Next.
    10. Click Browse and select the new certificate.
    11. Click Next.
    12. Verify and add the certificate.

  2. Make the required changes to the certificate.
  3. After completing changes, remove the certificate from Local Computer > Trusted People store on the IaaS servers.

Note: You can see the same error with Manager Service and IaaS Web certificates, you must manually deploy the certificate to Local Computer > Trusted People on the Web/MS servers.
