Details

View support different sets of security protocols. A View environment consists of clients, desktops, View servers, and third-party gateways. To allow combinations of versions and accommodate third-party gateways, you must configure the security protocols on some of the components so that clients can connect to desktops.

This article provides information on configuring security protocols on components to connect the View Client with desktops.

Note: This article is specific to PCoIP connections.

Solution

To configure security protocols on components to enable TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2:

Windows VDI desktop machine

  1. Import the View PCoIP Server Session Variables GPO from the pcoip.adm file
  2. Open the pcoip.adm file using text editor.
  3. Edit the Configure SSL protocols policy setting.
  4. Add this registry:
HKLM\Software\Teradici\PCoIP\pcoip_admin
Name: pcoip.ssl_protocol
Type: REG_SZ
Value: TLS1.0:TLS1.1:TLS1.2

Windows RDS host that provides RDS desktops or remote applications

  1. Import the View PCoIP Server Session Variables GPO from the pcoip.adm file
  2. Open the pcoip.adm file using a text editor.
  3. Edit the Configure SSL protocols policy setting.
  4. Add this registry:

    HKLM\Software\Teradici\PCoIP\pcoip_admin
    Name: pcoip.ssl_protocol
    Type: REG_SZ
    Value: TLS1.0:TLS1.1:TLS1.2

  5. Add this key for Security Gateway in the RDSH agent:

    HKLM\Software\Teradici\SecurityGateway
    Name: SSLProtocol
    Type: REG_SZ
    Value: tls1.2:tls1.1:tls1.0

Horizon Client for Windows

Import the View PCoIP Client Session Variables GPO from the pcoip.client.adm template file
  1. Open the pcoip.client.adm file using a text editor.
  2. Edit the Configure SSL protocols policy setting.
  3. Add this regsitry:
HKLM\Software\Policies\Teradici\Client\PCoIP\pcoip_admin_defaults
Name: pcoip.ssl_protocol
Type: REG_SZ
Value: TLS1.0:TLS1.1:TLS1.2

Horizon Client for Linux

In any of these files, modify the configuration setting to pcoip.ssl_protocol = “TLS1.0:TLS1.1:TLS1.2”:

/etc/teradici/pcoip_admin_defaults.conf
~/.pcoip.rc

/etc/teradici/pcoip_admin.conf

Horizon Client for Mac

In any of these files, modify the configuration setting to pcoip.ssl_protocol = “TLS1.0:TLS1.1:TLS1.2”:

/etc/teradici/pcoip_admin_defaults.conf
/Users/username/.pcoip.rc
/etc/teradici/pcoip_admin.conf

Connection Server instance or security server

Add this registry:

HKLM\Software\Teradici\SecurityGateway
Name: SSLProtocol
Type: REG_SZ
Value: tls1.2:tls1.1:tls1.0

Note: This procedure modifies the Windows registry. Before making any registry modifications, ensure that you have a current and valid backup of the registry and the virtual machine. For more information on backing up and restoring the registry, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 136393.
