Command Line Interface Additions and Improvements in NSX 6.2 (2129062)

  • 3 Ratings

Details

NSX 6.2 includes many additions and improvements to the command line interface. See the NSX Command Line Interface Reference for full details. http://pubs.vmware.com/NSX-62/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/nsx_62_cli.pdf

Solution

New NSX Edge Commands

  • show log routing [follow][reverse] -- show log output for routing
  • show service all -- show status of all services
  • show ipv6 forwarding -- show ipv6 route command renamed to 'show ipv6 forwarding' to be consistent with 'show ip forwarding' command
  • show netdevice -- show network device settings and statistics
  • show system interrupt -- show system interrupt information
  • show system interrupt affinity -- show system interrupt affinity information
  • show service highavailability internal -- show internal state of high availability daemon
  • show flowtimeouts -- show all available connection tracking inactivity timeout settings
  • show flowtable expect -- show expected connections
  • show flowstats -- show connection tracking statistics
  • show rpfilter -- show reverse path filter settings for all interfaces
  • show rpfstats -- show reverse path filter statistics

Improved NSX Edge Commands

  • show ip ospf neighbor -- now shows neighbor interface information
  • show ip bgp -- now shows AS Path information
  • show ip route [address] -- now shows matching routes for addresses that are more specific than those listed in the routing table, for example, individual hosts or networks with smaller prefixes. If no other matching route is found, the default route is listed.
  • show ipset -- now shows protocol and port information
  • ping ip/ping ipv6 -- now allows optionally specifying data packet size and “don’t fragment” flag

New Central CLI

Central CLI reduces troubleshooting time for distributed network functions. Commands are run from the NSX Manager command line and retrieve information from controllers, hosts, and the NSX Manager. This allows you to quickly access and compare information from multiple sources. The central CLI provides information about logical switches, logical routers, distributed firewall and edges.

New Standalone Edge L2 VPN client CLI

Prior to NSX 6.2, a standalone NSX Edge L2 VPN client could be configured only through OVF parameters. Commands specific to standalone NSX Edge have been added to allow configuration via the command line interface. The OVF is now used for initial configuration only.
