  • An error states that few alerts which were deleted may still be present.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.x.

To work around this issue, delete alerts directly from the database.

To delete alerts directly from the database:
  1. From the vRealize Operations Manager Admin UI, click Take Offline to bring the cluster offline
  2. Log in to the Master node as the root user.
  3. Bring the postgres database online by running this command:
service vpostgres start

  1. Launch the psql utility and connect to the vPostgres database by running this command::
su - postgres -c "/opt/vmware/vpostgres/9.3/bin/psql -U vcops -d vcopsdb"

Note: The prompt changes to vcopsdb=> when the command is completed.

  1. Delete all alerts by running these commands:
truncate table alert cascade;
truncate table alarm cascade;

To delete alerts related to a specific resource, run these commands:

delete from alert where resource_id = resource_id;
delete from alarm where resource_id = resource_id;

Note: The <resource_id> value can be obtained from the Administration -> Environment Overview page.

  1. Type \q to exit the psql utility.
  2. Bring the vPostgres database offline by running this command:
service vpostgres stop
  1. Repeat steps 2 to 7 on all other nodes (except for Remote Collector nodes) in the cluster.
  2. From the vRealize Operations Manager Admin UI, click Bring Online to restart the cluster.
