vSAN network status appears as Misconfiguration detected (2110210)

  • 0 Ratings

Details

After you enable vSAN on a cluster or add ESXi hosts that use different switches, if you browse to the ESXi host and click Summary. You might see that the vSAN Network Status appears as Misconfiguration detected.

This happens when one or more members of the cluster cannot communicate because of either of the following reasons:
  • A host in the cluster does not have a VMkernel adapter for vSAN.
  • The hosts cannot connect to each other in the network.
  • Multicast is not enabled on the physical switch.

Solution

To resolve this issue, you can join the members of the cluster to the same network or enable multicast on the physical switch. Or, you can enable Multicast Snooping on a vSphere Distributed Switch.

Perform the following steps to enable multicast snooping on a vSphere Distributed Switch:
  1. In the vSphere Web Client, navigate to the distributed switch.
  2. From the Actions menu, select Settings > Edit Settings.
  3. In the dialog box that displays the settings of the switch, click Advanced.
  4. From the Multicast filtering mode drop-down menu, select IGMP/MLD snooping, and click OK.
Multicast snooping becomes active on hosts running ESXi 6.0 and later.

You can also configure an IGMP snooping querier on the physical switches for delivery of multicast messages only through the physical switch ports that are connected to the vSAN hosts.
