  • 25 Ratings

Details

When you attempt to move a vSAN cluster from one vCenter Server to another, you might encounter error.

Solution

Perform the following steps:
  1. Install vCenter Server on another physical system.
There are several ways you can install vCenter Server. See the vSphere Installation and Setup documentation.
  2. Add your hosts to the new vCenter Server as standalone ESXi hosts.
  3. Create a new empty cluster and enable vSAN on it. See VMware vSAN documentation.
  4. Move all hosts to the empty cluster, one at a time.
During this process, the virtual machines are not powered off or interrupted.
