Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.0.

This issue is resolved in VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.0.1, available at VMware Download Center

If you are unable to upgrade at this time, you can work around this issue by restarting the VMware Cluster and Slice Administration service.

Note: Ensure that you set the root password when vRealize Operations Manager 6.0 virtual appliance is deployed. This is done when logging in to the console of the vRealize Operations Manager 6.0 node for the first time and pressing Alt-F1 to get to a login prompt. The default password is blank.

To restart the VMware Cluster and Slice Administration service:
  1. Log in to the master node as the root user.
  2. Run this command to restart the VMware Cluster and Slice Administration service:
service vmware-casa restart
  1. Repeat step 1 and 2 on all other nodes in the cluster.
  2. Log in to vRealize Operations Manager admin UI as the admin user.

Note: You can access administration interface by appending /admin to the node IP address or FQDN when you enter the URL in the browser.
The Cluster Status should now be Failed.
  1. Click Start vRealize Operations Manager.
You see this message under the Cluster Status stating (This is expected):

Starting the cluster for initial installation
.

If the Bring Online button is not accessible, stop the VMware Cluster and Slice Administration service.

  2. Run this command to stop the VMware Cluster and Slice Administration service:
service vmware-casa stop
  1. Repeat step 1 and 2 on all other nodes in the cluster.

cp /data/db/casa/webapp/hsqldb/casa.db.script /tmp/casa.db.script.`date +%m%d%Y`
  1. Open the /data/db/casa/webapp/hsqldb/casa.db.script file in a text editor.
  2. Locate the line near the bottom of the file that begins with:
INSERT INTO CASA_DOCS VALUES('clusterMembership'

and change "initialization_state":"INITIALIZING" to "initialization_state":"NONE".
  1. Save and close the file.
  2. Repeat step 4 to 6 on all other nodes in the cluster.
  3. On the master node, start the Cluster and Slice Administration service:
service vmware-casa start
  1. Repeat step 9 on all other nodes in the cluster.
