Replacing or repairing VMware vSphere solution dashboards in VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.x (2105967)

  • 2 Ratings

Purpose

This article provides step to replace or repair VMware vSphere solution dashboards.
Because one or more dashboards related to the VMware vSphere solution are altered or missing, they need to be fixed or replaced.

Resolution

Prerequisites:
  • If you need any assistance, file a support request with VMware Technical Support and note this Knowledge Base article ID (2105967) in the problem description. For more information, see How to file a Support Request in My VMware (2006985).
  • Take a backup of all vRealize Operations Manager 6.x nodes prior to completing these steps.
  • Ensure that you set the root password when vRealize Operations Manager 6.x virtual appliance is deployed. This is done when logging into the console of the vRealize Operations Manager 6.x node for the first time and pressing Alt+F1 to get to a login prompt. The default password is blank.
  • If the vRealize Operations Manager 6.x virtual appliance is deployed, it is necessary to manually start the sshd service. This is done by running the service sshd start command from the virtual machine console while logged in as the root user.
To replace or repair VMware vSphere solution dashboards:
  1. Use a file transfer utility to connect to the master node as the root user.
  2. Change to the /storage/db/casa/pak/dist_pak_files/platform directory where platform is either NON_VA_LINUX (Linux installable), NON_VA_WINDOWS (Windows installable) or VA_LINUX (vApp).
  3. Download the VMwarevSphere-602263102.pak file.
Note: The 602263102 number may be different in later versions of vRealize Operations Manager 6.x or there may be multiple versions present. Choose the file with the highest version number.
  1. Log in to the vRealize Operations Manager 6.x UI.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Solutions.
  3. Click Add (the green plus sign).
  4. Click Browse a solution.
  5. Select the .pak file that was downloaded in step 3.
  6. Select Force installation.
  7. Select Reset out-of-the-box content, overwriting to a newer version provided by this update
Note: User modifications to out-of-the-box Alerts, Symptoms, Recommendations and Policies will be overwritten. No changes will be made to any configured adapter instances.
  1. Click Upload .
  2. When the upload is complete, click Next.
  3. Select I accept the terms of this agreement.
  4. Click Next.
  5. When the installation is complete, click Finish.
Notes:
  • You may need to log out and then log in to see the changes take effect.
  • A similar process starting from step 4 to step 15 can be used for scenarios where the solution pak file is available for download at VMware Solution Exchange.
