This article provides information about Partner Solutions that include VMware vShield Endpoint in their products.

vShield Endpoint offloads antivirus and anti-malware agent processing to a dedicated secure virtual appliance delivered by VMware partners. The vShield Endpoint solution requires a thin agent, which is included in VMware tools and a secure virtual appliance, delivered by VMware partners. In addition, vShield Endpoint relies on VCNS for the deployment, configuration and management of all required components.

With the launch of VMware vSphere 5.1 and VMware vCloud Networking and Security (VCNS) 5.1, customers with the valid Support and Subscription (SnS) contracts for vSphere Essentials Plus or higher editions are entitled to the vShield Endpoint functionality for agentless anti-virus use case at no extra cost.

VMware has announced the end of availability (EOA) of the VMware vCloud Networking and Security™ Standard and Advanced editions for sale as standalone products effective September 30, 2013. For more information, see the vCloud Networking and Security Standalone Products EOA FAQ.

VMware announced that customers will be able to get telephone and internet support for VCNS 5.5 until their current contract expires or until Q3, 2016, whichever is earlier. For more information, see the VMware Lifecycle Product Matrix.

This document describes VMwares planned approach to support customers who are using VCNS 5.5 for managing vShield Endpoint for the agentless anti-virus solutions use case.

NSX provides the next generation of networking and security virtualization capabilities. Customers who require these capabilities will be required to purchase NSX. Customers currently running VCNS features have the option to leverage existing promotional offers to upgrade to NSX at a discounted price.

NSX Guest Introspection is the next generation of vShield Endpoint capabilities. NSX along with NSX Guest Introspection introduce several new capabilities which include simplified automated deployment of host modules and partner appliances, policy management & policy orchestration and support for new use cases such as file integrity monitoring, vulnerability management and IDS/IPS. These capabilities will require the purchase of NSX.
