Purpose

This article provides information on branding to the desktop portal.

Resolution

Introduction to Portal Customization

The VMware Horizon DaaS Portals are configured to allow for simple Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) changes to re-brand and change the visual style. By using CSS on the portal, administrators can brand their portal to match their company identity.

Changing the Desktop Portal

  1. Log in to Enterprise Center.
  2. Click Configuration and select General from the dropdown.
  3. In the second section of the General screen you must enter the external style sheet location. This location should be a secure server to prevent security warnings. By default there are two style sheets for your VMware portal pages.

    https://<yourdesktopportalURL>/css/normal.css
    https://<yourenterprisecenterURL>/css/normal.css

  4. Place a new style sheet in the same /css/ directory and properly link it in the External Style Sheet URL field.

    Foe example, make a style sheet called new and enter in to the External Style Sheet URL field:

    https://<yourdesktopportalURL>/css/new.css

Cascading Style Sheet Customizations

  1. Create a .css file in the location.

    Note: Do not name it normal .css. It contains the basic style information.

    Elements:

    #banner_portal - Use this to change the User Portal Banner.
    #banner - Use this to change the Enterprise Portal Banner.
    Body - Use this to change the font, background, color of the whole page.

    CSS Example:

    body {
    background-image: url("https://brands.desktone.com/company/images/greatbg.jpg")!important;
    background-repeat: repeat-x !important;
    font-family: arial, sans-serif;
    font-color: red;
    }
    #banner_portal {
    padding: 0px;
    padding-top: 0px;
    margin-bottom: 0px;
    vertical-align: bottom;
    background: url("https://webserver-companyname.com/company/images /greatbanner.jpg ") !important;
    background-position: top left;
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    min-height: 130px !important;
    margin-top: -10px !important;
    }

  2. Save the .css to the location specified in the External Style Sheet URL field.
