Potential ESXi host failures when hot unplugging SSD disks backed by LSI controllers (2092959)

  • 3 Ratings

Details

When you manually hot unplug SSD disks, vSAN hosts that are using the disks might fail with a PSOD. This failure might happen when you use the following LSI drivers:
  • mpt2sas version 19.00.00.00.1vmw
  • mpt2sas version 18.00.00.00.1vmw
  • mpt2sas version 15.10.06.00.1vmw
  • mpt3sas version 6.00.00.00.1vmw
  • megaraid_sas version 6.603.55.00.1vmw

Solution

Do not hot unplug SSD disks backed by LSI controllers that use one of the listed drivers. If you must unplug SSD disks attached to a vSAN cluster, call VMware Technical Support.
