This issue occurs when you attempt to install Enterprise Plus after applying a hypervisor license. In this case, the license key in the vCenter MOB shows the esxBasic license and does not accept the Enterprise License.

To view the license status in the vCenter MOB, navigate to MOB > Content > License Manager > LicenseInfo > EditionKey.

To resolve the issue:
  1. Remove the Hypervisor license.

For more information, see Licensing ESXi 5.x and vCenter Server 5.x (2014295).

  2. Rerun the backup job.
