How to remove a virtual machine from Management in vRA or vCAC (2077281)

Purpose

This article provides information on removing a virtual machine from VMware vRealize Automation (formerly known as vCloud Automation Center).

You remove a virtual machine from VMware vRealize Automation when:
  • A virtual machine that is being managed without being deleted from the endpoint.
  • You remove from vRealize Automation and then manually remove the machine from the endpoint.
  • You remove from VMware vRealize Automation and then re-import it.
Note: Do not attempt to run the scripts attached to this article on VMware vRealize Automation 7.x versions.

Resolution

To remove a virtual machine from VMware vRealize Automation 6.x (formerly known as vCloud Automation Center):
  1. Back up your vRealize Automation or vCloud Automation Center SQL database in case you need to revert.
  2. Download the RemoveVMfromvCAC archive attached in this article for the exact version of vRealize Automation or vCloud Automation Center that you have.
  3. Extract the RemoveVMfromvCAC archive and locate the readme file for step by step instructions on removing the virtual machine from your vRealize Automation or vCloud Automation Center environment.
