Backing up disks of size 2 TB or larger fail silently and report success when using HotAdd transport (2068424)

  • 3 Ratings

  • When using the HotAdd transport mode, you are unable to back up disks that are 2 TB or larger in size
  • Backing up disks larger than 2TB in HotAdd transport mode fail silently, but report a successful backup on Windows virtual machines

This issue occurs if disk.enableUUID set to true in the Windows virtual machine, which results in the VDDK abruptly stopping the backup and wrongly returning a success status.

This is a known issue affecting Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) 5.5.
This issue is resolved in VDDK 5.5.1, available at VMware Downloads. For more information, see the VDDK 5.5.1 Release Notes.
