Uninstalling a plug-in from vRealize Orchestrator 5.5.x, 6.0.x, and 7.x (2064575)

  • 3 Ratings

Details

You can disable a vRealize Orchestrator (formerly known as vCenter Orchestrator) plug-in from the plug-ins tab, but this does not remove the plug-in files from the file system.

To fully remove the plug-in files and configuration, you must log in to the machine in which the Orchestrator server is installed and remove the plug-in files manually.

Solution

To uninstall a plug-in and remove all associated elements, perform these steps:

  1. If the plug-in has an associated package containing plug-in specific workflows, actions, Web views and so on, remove the package manually.

    1. Log in to the vRealize Orchestrator client.
    2. Verify that Tools > User Preferences > Delete non empty folders option is checked.
    3. In the vRealize Orchestrator client, click on the Packages view.
    4. Right-click the package to delete and click Delete element with content.
    5. In the vRealize Orchestrator client, click the Workflows view and verify all workflow content distributed with the plugin is removed.

      1. To remove them, right click on folder containing the workflows and select Delete.
      2. Repeat the above step for all actions distributed with the plugin.

    6. Verify that all actions distributed with the plugin are removed.

  2. Log in as an administrator to the machine in which the Orchestrator server is installed.
  3. Stop the Orchestrator Configuration service and the Orchestrator Server service.
  4. Navigate to the vRealize Orchestrator installation folder:

    • If you have installed vRealize Orchestrator with the vCenter Server installer, the path is:

      install_directory\VMware\Infrastructure\Orchestrator\app-server\plugins

    • If you have installed the Windows standalone version of vRealize Orchestrator, the path is:

      install_directory\VMware\Orchestrator\app-server\plugins

    • If you use the vRealize Orchestrator appliance, the path is:

      /usr/lib/vco/app-server/plugins

  5. Delete the .dar and .war archives that contain the plug-in that you want to remove.
  6. Open to edit the _VSOPluginInstallationVersion.xml file and delete the line of code that corresponds to the plug-in you want to delete.

    • If you have installed the Windows standalone version of vRealize Orchestrator, the path is:

      install_directory\VMware\Orchestrator\app-server\conf\plugins\_VSOPluginInstallationVersion.xml

    • If you use the vRealize Orchestrator appliance, the path is:

      /var/lib/vco/app-server/conf/plugins/_VSOPluginInstallationVersion.xml

Note: For vRealize Orchestrator 7.x, the path is /etc/vco/app-server/plugins/_VSOPluginInstallationVersion.xml

  7. Reset plugin version.

Navigate  to vRO Configurator > Troubleshooting and click Reset plugin version link.

Note: This step is required for resetting installed plugin's version to allow installation of older plugin version in future.

  8. Restart the vRealize Orchestrator services:

    1. Log in to the vRealize Orchestrator configuration interface as vmware.
    2. On the Startup Options tab, click Restart Service and Restart the vCO configuration server to restart the vCenter Server Configuration service and the vRealize Orchestrator Server service.

  9. Verify the plugin is removed from vRO Configurator > Plug-ins list.
