Compliance status of a virtual machine does not update when it is migrated between different datastore types (2062710)

  • 0 Ratings

When you migrate a virtual machine between different types of datastore using Storage vMotion, for example, between a vSAN datastore and a VMFS datastore, you may experience these symptoms:
  • The compliance status of the virtual machine does not update in the vSphere Web Client.
  • You are unable to see the correct compliance status of the virtual machine in the vSphere Web Client.

This is a known issue affecting VMware vSAN 5.5.x.

This issue is resolved in VMware vSAN 6.0. For more information, see the VMware vSAN 6.0 Release notes.

To work around the issue after you migrate the virtual machine, check the Storage Policy compliance.

To check the Storage Policy compliance:
  1. In the vSphere Web Client, select the affected virtual machine.
  2. Right-click the virtual machine and click All vCenter Actions > VM Storage Policies > Check VM Storage Policy Compliance.
