When you attempt to configure or deploy VMware vSAN (Formerly known as Virtual SAN), you experience these symptoms:
  • vSAN configuration fails
  • In the vSphere Web Client, you see an error similar to:

Found another host participating in the VSAN service which is not a member of this host's vCenter cluster

To resolve this issue, check all ESXi host nodes in the vSAN cluster and ensure that their configuration is correct and all vSAN hosts are in the same network subnet.

Note: If you are running vSAN 5.5 and you see the error (described in the Symptoms section), but you do not discover any vSAN configuration issues, it is possible that the alert is false. Ignore the error and provision a new virtual machine on the vSAN cluster. The error disappears.
