Manually collecting diagnostic logs from the Android VMware switch (2058741)

The normal method to collect the logs from a VMware Ready device is using the VMware Horizon Mobile Server console or through the Horizon Workspace console to which the device is connected.

For more information, see the Perform Actions on a User's Mobile Workspace section in the Horizon Workspace Administrator's Guide.
However, if the device fails to connect to the server, you may have to collect the logs from the device itself.
This article provides steps to collect the logs from a VMware Ready device on which the VMware Switch Application is installed when other methods are not applicable.


To collect the logs from the VMware Ready device:
Note: Ensure that the switch application already installed before proceeding.
  1. In your device, go to Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Scroll down and select VMware Switch.
  4. Select Manage space. 
  5. Select Diagnostics.
  6. Select Save diagnostics. You see a popup with the message Reports saved to external storage.
  7. Open the file manager application. Depending on the device, the application is named either as Files or File Manager.
  8. Navigate to Android > Data > com.vmware.mvp > Cache.

    Note: In some devices, such as Motorola 201M, you need to select Device Storage first.

  9. Select the latest zip file.
  10. Use the share option to export it from the device.

Additional Information

The applications name, icons, and position of the option may vary depending on the device and manufacturer.
