Network interfaces used for vSAN are not ready (2058521)

When the VMkernel adapter that your ESXi host uses for vSAN is not ready, you receive an event with the description:

vmknic vmkX that is currently configured to be used with VSAN doesn't have an IP address yet. There are no other active network configuration and therefore the VSAN node doesn't have network connectivity.

For example, this event might occur when the VMkernel adapter does not have a proper IP address.

The ESXi host might not be able to join an existing vSAN cluster or form a new cluster with other hosts.

To resolve this issue:

  1. If using DHCP, ensure that the DHCP server is active and the host can get a valid IP address.
  2. Configure additional interfaces to maintain redundancy of network connection.

For more information, see the Troubleshooting Networking section in the vSphere Troubleshooting Guide.

Update History
