Setting Linux Host Screensaver Options in the Workstation Global Configuration File (2054255)

  • 2 Ratings

Details

To control screensaver behavior when Workstation is running on Linux hosts, Workstation version 5.5.2 provides configuration options in the global configuration file config.

Solution

You can use a text editor to set or change these screensaver options in the global configuration file:
  • mks.fullscreen.allowScreenSaver (default FALSE) determines whether the host screen saver is enabled when the virtual machine is in full screen mode.
  • mks.windowed.allowScreenSaver (default TRUE) determines whether the host screen saver is enabled when the virtual machine is not in full screen mode.
  • mks.x.screenSaverTimeout (default 0) determines the amount of seconds to wait before ungrabbing keyboard and mouse focus. The timeout is ignored if the value is zero. Normally, you should set this option to be several seconds less than the value for the host screen saver timeout.
On Linux hosts, the global configuration file config is located in the directory /etc/vmware.
