Configuring antivirus and computer protection software exclusions for VMware Horizon Mirage (2052489)

Symptoms

  • There are improper antivirus configurations on the Horizon Mirage server or endpoint.
  • Tasks that involve copying and replacing files conflict with the antivirus configurations.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, configure the antivirus and computer protection software to exclude Mirage storage and services.

Configure the antivirus software to exclude these items from the scanning process:
  • On the Servers:
    • Mirage Storage Volumes.
    • Mirage Local Cache. This is configured during installation, but is located by default at:

      C:\ProgramData\Wanova\Mirage\LocalCache

  • The Mongo Data File path
    • To find the Mongo data file path, go to the web management console > Servers > Management Servers > MongoDB Volume Path column.
    • The path to all mongo nodes on this screen needs to be excluded in the antivirus.

  • On Desktops:
    • Mirage Staging Area - C:\Wanova Volume Information

Configure these services to be white listed by the computer protection software:
  • On the Servers:
    • Wanova.Management.Service.exe
    • Wanova.Server.Service.exe
    • mongod1.cfg
    • mongod.exe
    • mongodb.exe

  • On Desktops, disable registry filters for this process:
    • Wanova.Desktop.Service.exe
