Importing VMware View 5.0 or earlier Connection Server SSL certificate to a View 5.x or later Connection Server (2051560)

  • 3 Ratings

This article provides steps to import a View 5.0 or earlier Connection Server SSL certificate to a View 5.x or later Connection Server.

Note: This procedure requires you to know the existing SSL certificate password. Before performing the View 5.x upgrade, you can obtain this password from the file of the Connection server.
To obtain the existing SSL certificate password:
  • Navigate to C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Server\sslgateway\conf.
  • Open the file using a text editor.
  • Note the value of storepass.

Importing the existing SSL certificate

To import the SSL certificate:
  1. Copy the SSL certificate to any location on the target Connection server.
  2. Double-click the certificate. The Certificate Import Wizard opens.
  3. Click Next in the first and second window.
  4. Enter the certificate password in the Password field.
  5. Select the Mark this key as exportable. This will allow you to back up or transport your keys at a later time option and then click Next.
  6. Select the Place all certificates in the following store option and click Browse.
  7. Select Personal and click OK.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Finish.
  10. After the import completes, restart the VMware View Connection Server service.
Note: This procedure also applies to View Security and Transfer servers.

Additional Information

If you are upgrading a VDI 5.0 server or earlier that already has a certificate installed, the upgrade process performs the certificate import automatically. However, if there is an issue after the upgrade, you can use this procedure to import the SSL certificate.
