Disk space reclamation fails with a "No wipable disks found" error if CBT is enabled on a virtual machine (2047250)

  • 0 Ratings

Details

In Horizon View 5.2 or later, if you enable Changed Block Tracking (CBT) on a parent virtual machine and use it to create a desktop pool with space-efficient sparse disks, disk space reclamation does not work. When space reclamation is started on a desktop virtual machine, these errors occur:
  • VMTools logs display a No wipable disks found error
  • vCenter Server generates a General system error: Wipe disk failed event
For more information on CBT, see Changed Block Tracking (CBT) on virtual machines (1020128).

Solution

To resolve this issue for a desktop pool, disable CBT on the parent virtual machine and recompose the pool.

To resolve this issue on an individual virtual machine, disable CBT on the virtual machine.
