  • 21 Ratings

This article provides information on using the configure-network command-line utility in the vCenter Support Assistant virtual appliance.

The configure-network utility is used for performing various network configurations on the vCenter Support Assistant virtual appliance. It provides guided options to configure:

Note: In vCenter Support Assistant and later, use this command to configure the network:

  • IP Address
    • This can be either static (specifying the IP address and Subnet Mask) or dynamic (via DHCP).

  • HTTPS Proxy Server
  • DNS
    • Two DNS servers can be configured as needed.

  • Default Gateway
    • Allows configuration of the the default gateway for the network.

  • Hostname
    • Hostname of the vSphere Support Assistant virtual appliance.
    • By default, the hostname is set to support-assistant.

  • Override plugin hostname
    • This setting overrides the hostname reported to vCenter Server when it discovers plugins. Use this to match the hostname on a custom SSL certificate used for the Support Assistant Virtual Appliance, so that the Virtual  Appliance can be trusted.

Note: This setting does not override the hostname of the virtual appliance on the network.
