vCenter Server Appliance Web interface does not work in Firefox 14 or later (2041663)

  • 13 Ratings

This issue occurs because the Firefox XML parsing behavior has changed in Firefox 14 and later. In Firefox 14 or later the Administration, Services, and Storage tabs do not appear in the vCenter Server Appliance Web interface. The Admin page appears, but is blank. This prevents configuration of the Active Directory membership and other settings.

This is a known issue in vCenter Server Appliance 5.0, vCenter Server Appliance 5.0 Update 1, vCenter Server Appliance 5.0 Update 1b, vCenter Server Appliance 5.0 Update 2, vCenter Server Appliance 5.1, vCenter Server Appliance 5.1.0a, and vCenter Server Appliance 5.1.0b.
To resolve this issue, run the script and clear the browser's cache.
To run the script and clear the browser's cache:
  1. Download the file attached to this article.
  2. Extract the script into a directory on the vCenter Server Appliance.
  3. Run the script on the vCenter Server Appliance from the directory it was extracted to.

  4. Clear the Firefox browser's cache in your vSphere Client system and then open the vCenter Server Appliance Web interface.
Note: If the script fails to run, edit the script file and remove the extra carriage returns. For more information on editing files in Linux, see Common Linux-based operating system operations (1022050).

Alternatively, use another supported browser or use the Firefox Extended Support Release, which is based on Firefox 10. To download the Firefox Extended Support Release, see the Mozilla Download Center.
