Resolution

To resolve this issue:

  1. Run these commands on the ESXi shell to find if the VIBs are installed:

esxcli software vib list | grep -i Dell-Configuration-VIB
esxcli software vib list | grep -i Dell-License-VIB
esxcli software vib list | grep -i Dell-esx-boot-options

  2. Run these commands to remove the VIBs listed :

esxcli software vib remove –n Dell-Configuration-VIB
esxcli software vib remove –n Dell-License-VIB
esxcli software vib remove -n Dell-esx-boot-options

For more information, see Using ESXi Shell in ESXi 5.0 and 5.1 (2004746).

  3. Reboot the host for the changes to take effect.
  4. Once the ESXi host has rebooted, run the upgrade again using a VMware image/Customized image, available at VMware Downloads.

Note: This procedure can be used to remove third party drivers from any vendor.
