Updating the Hardware Status information for an ESXi 5.0 Update 1 host takes a long time (2016538)

  • 26 Ratings

Symptoms

  • Updating the Hardware Status information for an ESXi 5.0 Update 1 host takes much longer time than an ESXi 5.0 host.

Note: To update the Hardware Status information, in the vSphere Client connected to vCenter Server, select the ESXi host, click the Hardware Status tab, and then click Update.

  • The time taken to update the Hardware Status information varies depending on the server hardware, however it can take more than two minutes on ESXi 5.0 Update 1.
  • The CIM query responses are very slow and anything which interacts with CIM or third party CIM providers are also affected.
  • This issue negatively impacts the Nagios check_esxi_hardware.py script.
