Creating a group in Socialcast (2015388)

Socialcast provides users the ability to create their own groups. You can join groups to discuss work-related projects or to meet colleagues with similar skills, passions, and hobbies.
This article provides steps to create a new group on Socialcast.


To create a new group in Socialcast:
  1. Go to https://your-community-url.
  2. Log in using your user credentials.
  3. Click Add a new group under the Groups section in the left navigation menu.
  4. Enter a name and, optionally, a description and photo for your new group
  5. Select the desired permissions for your group. The available options are Public, Private, or External Facing.

Public Group

A Public group creates an open group for discussion of topics. Anyone in the community can view, contribute, and join a public group.

Private Groups

Private groups are ideal for sharing sensitive or confidential information among specific people. A Group Admin for a private group must invite members directly, so that they can view, search, and post messages to the private group. Private groups are not visible in the Groups Directory to users who are not members of the group.
In addition, messages posted elsewhere cannot be CCed  or copied to a private group. 

External Facing

External Facing groups allow you to invite external or non-company users for collaboration within that specific group only. Such users are referred to as External Contributors and their access to the community is limited to those groups that they are specifically invited to. External Contributors can be invited to multiple External Facing groups.
Note: External Facing groups are available in Premium communities only.
