Distributed virtual switch configuration does not exist in vCenter Server 4.x after an upgrade (2013132)

  • 3 Ratings

After upgrading from VMware vCenter Server 4.0 U2 to vCenter Server 4.0 U4, you may experience these symptoms:

  • Distributed virtual switch (vDS) configuration does not exist
  • You see the error:

The host proxy switch associated to <DVS name> no longer exists in vCenter.

  • This issue occurs when using an Oracle database.

Oracle database accounts have different contexts for each user. This issue occurs if you are using the wrong Oracle database account.
After upgrading vCenter Server, the vDS IDs may not be the same as they were prior to the upgrade.

To resolve this issue, ensure that you are using the the correct account.
