Installation of Solaris 10 Update 10 virtual machine on some versions of ESX might fail (2007354)

  • 18 Ratings

Details

While performing a typical installation of Solaris 10 Update 10 virtual machine on some versions of ESX, the installation might fail with a kernel panic and display an error message similar to the following:

panic[cpu0]/thread=fffffffffbc28340 ..

This is because the default memory size of 1GB for a Solaris 10 virtual machine is less than the required memory size for a Solaris 10 Update 10 virtual machine.

Solution

Work around the issue by changing the virtual machine's memory size to 1.5GB or higher.
