Connecting to View desktops using RDP protocol fails with the error code 2825 (1034158)

Symptoms

  • You cannot connect to the View desktop using RDP protocol
  • You can connect to the View desktop using PCoIP
  • The View Client displays the error:

    The connection to the remote computer failed. There was an unexpected RDP disconnection. Microsoft RDP error code = 2825

  • This issue affects Windows 7/Vista desktop pools

Resolution

This issue can occurs if Network Level Authentication is used for incoming Remote Desktop connections. The setting allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop is required.
 
Important Note: If you require the Network Level Authentication option, you must enable the Enable Credential Security Server Provider GPO policy, which is in the vdm_client.adm template. For more information, see RDP Settings section in the VMware View Administrator's Guide.
 
To change the setting:
  1. Log in as an Administrator on the View desktop virtual machine.
  2. Right-click My Computer and click Properties.
  3. Click the Remote tab in System Properties.
  4. Select Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop.
  5. Click OK.
