Cannot connect to VMware View Composer (1029136)

This article contains information to help you successfully connect to View Composer from VMware View Manager.


Each step below provides instructions and a link to a document, for performing the step and taking corrective action as necessary. The steps are ordered in the most appropriate sequence to isolate the issue and to identify the proper resolution. They are also ordered in the most appropriate sequence to minimize data loss. After each step, try to connect to your VMware View Composer Server. Work through each troubleshooting step in order, and do not skip a step.

If you cannot connect to View Composer:

  1. Confirm that an available network port exists. For more information, see Increasing the number of ports assigned to a VMware View virtual switch (1026014).

  2. Confirm that the necessary VMware View manager services are running. For more information, see Verifying that required VMware View Manager services are running (1026136).

  3. Confirm that permissions/credentials are correct for QuickPrep. For more information, see Creating a QuickPrep user account for VMware View Composer operations (1025834).

  4. Confirm that the permissions/credentials are correct for the vCenter/VirtualCenter user. For more information, see Confirm permissions/credentials are correct for vCenter/VirtualCenter server user (1028705).

  5. Confirm that the network is configured correctly for use in a VMware View environment. For more information, see Network configuration in VMware View virtual desktops (1026498).

  6. Verify that the Composer database is not corrupt. For more information, see Configuring the View Composer Domain fails with the error: The database has been reinitialized or is corrupt (1012082).
