View Composer supports Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 SP1 software (1023821)

You can install SCCM 2007 SP1 software when you create linked-clone desktops. Unique GUID values are generated for each linked clone.

To preserve the GUID values during refresh operations, you must take these additional steps to prepare the parent virtual machine:
  1. Install View agent and SCCM 2007 SP1 in the parent virtual machine.
  2. In the parent virtual machine guest operating system, open a command prompt and stop the ccmexec process by running the command:

    net stop ccmexec.

  3. Remove the certificates by using ccmdelcert utility.

The ccmdelcert utility is bundled with the SMS 2007 and SMS 2003 toolkits.

  4. Remove the trusted root key set the value for CCMSetup RESETKEYINFORMATION = TRUE.
  5. Delete the smscfg.ini file from the C:\Windows directory.

Note: When you install SCCM, the application does not generate a GUID in the Windows registry. Instead, SCCM stores the GUID in the file, C:\Windows\SMSCfg. You do not have to remove an SCCM GUID from the Windows registry on the parent virtual machine.

  6. Take a snapshot of the parent virtual machine and create a linked-clone pool.

By default, SCCM generates unique GUIDs in the linked-clone desktops when the SCCM application agent starts up.

After you perform refresh operations, the unique SCCM GUIDs are preserved in the linked clones.
Note: This procedure only works with the refresh operation. Recomposing the pool will cause new GUID values to be generated.
