  • 2 Ratings

In a VLAN environment where the Remote Access controller is shared with a LOM NIC (LAN on Motherboard NIC), you may experience these symptoms when ESX/ESXi 4.0 loads the bnx2 network driver:
  • Network communication stops
  • Network failure

This issue occurs if the bnx2 asynchronous driver is out of date. To resolve this issue, download and install driver version 1.9.26c or later.
To download the driver:
  1. Browse to the Download Center and navigate to the VMware vSphere 4.
  2. Click the Drivers & Tools tab.
  3. Expand Driver CDs.
  4. Click the Download button next to VMware ESX/ESXi 4.0 Driver CD for Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5706, BCM5708, BCM5709, BCM5716 Ethernet Controllers.
