Moving View-managed desktops between VMware vCenter Servers is not supported (1018045)

  • 14 Ratings

You cannot move View-managed desktops between vCenter Servers by using the administration graphical interface.

If you configure an ESX host or cluster to host virtual machines that are managed by View Manager, and then deregister the ESX hosts from one vCenter Server and reregister them on another vCenter Server, View Manager cannot locate the virtual machines on the new vCenter Server that correspond to users' desktops. As a result, users cannot log into their desktops.

Users are also unable to log into their desktops if you deregister virtual machines that are managed by View Manager from one vCenter Server, and reregister them on another vCenter Server.

Note: Moving View-managed desktops between vCenter Servers is not supported.
