Enabling Auto Connect in the VMware View Client for users entitled to only a single desktop (1013849)

  • 12 Ratings

This article provides information on enabling Auto Connect to connect to a single Connection Server whenever the VMware View Client is launched.

To enable Auto Connect, when the View or Virtual Desktop Manager (VDM) Client launches and before it connects to the Connection Server, click Options and select Auto Connect.

However, this does not connect the user directly to their desktop.

To connect the user directly to their desktop:
  1. Launch the View Client and connect to your connection server.
  2. Select the pool containing the desktop you want to log in.
  3. Log in to your Virtual Desktop.
  4. Click the VMware View Client shade at the top of the window.
  5. Click Options and select Auto Connect to this Desktop.

Additional Information

To remove or disable this functionality:
  1. Launch the VMware View Client. It prompts for your username and password, unless you have the client set up to log in as current user.
  2. At the prompt for your User Name and Password, click Cancel.
  3. At the prompt for the Connection Server hostname or IP address, click the Options >> button at the lower right corner of the dialog.
  4. Deselect Always connect to this server at startup.
Note: If you have the client set to log in as current user, you may be unable to interrupt the process to make this change. In that case:
  1. Open a command prompt on the client computer.
  2. Run this command from the command prompt:

    cd "C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Client\bin"

  3. Run this command:

    wswc.exe -logInAsCurrentUser false

  4. Follow the instructions To Remove or disable this functionality beginning with step 2.
